Data Security Legislation


Radio Shack employees are disposing customer data (credit/debit/social security) . . . in garbage cans out back.  The Texas AG says this is in violation of Texas law.  [Reasonable Basis > WSJ]

Meanwhile, "[c]ould this be the year that Congress enacts comprehensive data security and breach notification legislation?"
given the inconsistent prognostications coming out of Washington, together with Congress’ understandable focus on Attorney General Gonzales and the Iraq war, it is too soon to say whether a privacy bill will pass Congress this session.
