Company Email Sets Off Furor
AP reports ("Company's Anti-War Email Sparks Outrage"):
An American soldier in Iraq who e-mailed a U.S. company to ask for a shipment of floor mats got a brusque reply: "We would NEVER ship to Iraq. If you were sensible, you and your troops would pull out of Iraq."This is not the first time someone writes an email without considering what will happen if it is widely disseminated. Nor will it be the last. (Meanwhile, Microsoft gets in hot water after allegedly offering to pay for a Wiki edit. It disputes the story. Details at Brier Dudley's blob here.)
The response quickly circulated on the Internet and led to threats against the Muslim-owned business, including demands for a boycott.
