Miscellany
- One of Avvo's co-founders is stepping down. Not a shakeup, sez founder Mark Britton [Seattle PI's Venture Blog]. I'm still not sure how they are supposed to make money? I can't see an ad driven model panning out. We are a litigious society, but are we going to spend that much time surfing a website that provides information about lawyers?
Also, on an unrelated note, they've added some features that may result in lawyers litigating reputation-related issues again. I'm thinking about the "no cause for concern" button that they've added. - Is Facebook slowing down? (More importantly, how is it going to make money??) [NYT/DealBook].
- I tried out xobni's much heralded product. So far, I'm loving it. Some have complained (link) about slow downs as a result of installing it, but I'm having no problems. I think this could be a very useful tool in organizing and taming your inbox (kudos to their branding team on the name). Basically every time you click on an email, you are able to access a ton of historical information regarding the email and sender (previous emails, attachments, stats, phone numbers). The whole "I'm looking through my email" thing will never be the same.
- I've caught the LinkedIn bug. Funniest LinkedIn story. I send my friend an invite and she says "you know I'm not going to accept your invitation because X is also one of my connections, and I know you and X don't get along." He hee.
